2. Flype (V1.1)

After connecting, you can directly go to the Flype page:

EarthGlider will jump to the place which is shown in Flype's map.

To start flyping, tap the Pause button. EarthGlider will start flying and follows the movements of the iTouch in your hand.

In Pause Mode: Use the Map

  • Double-tap to zoom in
  • Pinch to zoom in or out
  • Move the map with one finger to change the viewpoint in EarthGlider

In Flype Mode: Control the Speed

  • tap and hold a finger on the map, then move up to accelerate or down to slow down.
  • EarthGlider will change speed as long as you hold down the finger.
  • The amount of finger move is important: tap and hold on bottom map, then move to top to accelerate at max.
  • To stop down to "default speed", double-tap

See the video and watch the (virtual) finger tap, hold, move and double-tap:

Flype Control Buttons

On the top you find a list of buttons which are easily accesible while you are flyping.

Play/Pause: Tap this button to start flyping

Start/Stop Recording: EarthGlider can record a flype session. After recording stops, a file will be created on your Mac (see EarthGlider's Preferences for the exact location). This file looks like "Tour 2010-02-21 12-21-18.xml" for example. You can double-click this file and replay the tour in Google Earth.

Tap once to add the current place, speed, heading and tilt to your lists of placemarks. All data will be filled in automatically - if there is a populated location in reach.

Toggle display of streets on EarthGlider. It's great to fly the Highway No. 1 down Big Sur ....

Show location names and some borders in EarthGlider

Don't miss this: 3D Buildings! This is one of the coolest features, however it requires bandwith and 3D capabilities of your EarthGlider computer. Flying around buildings down in the streets is real fun.
