3. Placemarks (V1.1)

Placemarks are a simple yet powerful tool to save your favorite places - and visit funny places which others have found.

To store the current place, speed and heading, simply tap the Placemark button on top of the Flype page:

To view the placemarks, tap the Places button in the toolbar:

This is the Places page with your places selected:

If you tap a placemark, Flype and the EarthGlider will jump to the selected placemark.

New in Version 1.1: If you double-tap, flyping starts immediately at the selected placemark.

Edit Placemarks List

To edit the list of placemarks, i.e. change ordering or delete placemarks, tap Edit at the top. The list becomes editable:

To edit the content of a placemark, tap the circled blue arrow besides an placemark entry:

The Placemark Editor appears:

You can change the description, which will appear in the overview, but also the speed, heading and tilt which will be applied when you go to the placemark. If you are editing the placemark which you are currently viewing in EarthGlider, the heading and tilt will be updated live as you change the sliders.

Sharing a placemark

If you have found a placemark so beautiful that you want to share it with others, there's an easy way: tap the Share button on top right of the placemark editor page:

On the next page, fill out the description, enter your alias name, if you like to be noted as the author of this placemark, and enter a proposal for a category, optionally.

Then tap "Create Mail", and a mail window pops up where you can add some text, or just tap "Send"

Obviously, you need to have Mail configured on your iTouch. Currently this is the only way to share placemarks. They will be checked and reviewed at tin:b and put online a few days later.

Online Placemarks

On the Places page you'll see the tab "Online". There will the shared placemarks go. Tap the Online button, choose a category and one tap later you visit the favorite places of other Flypers:

If you like a online placemark, tap "Add Place" on the Flype page and it will be yours.
