4. Settings (V1.1)

On the settings page you have some options to change the appearance and the behavior of the Flype page.

Here's an overview of all settings:

Home Placemark

  • Set Current Place as Home: When you start Flype, this is the place
  • Go Home: works as a placemark

Google Maps Style

The map on the Flype page is a real Google map, so it can be displayed in the usual three styles map, hybrid and satellite.

Please note: The satellite and hybrid views needs more performance and bandwith to be displayed, so you may use it only rarely. In general, you will look to EarthGliders 3D terrain view.

These are map and hybrid style side by side:

Rotate Map to ...

  • Flype direction: You can choose whether the map will always be oriented north-up, or it will rotate to your flyping direction. It's a matter of taste, however I prefer flype direction, even when the labels on the map are sometimes difficult to read. The compass needle will either show the flype direction or north direction, indicated by a barely visible N.
  • North when paused: this option will always rotate the map to north when you have paused, so labels are clearly readible. For your convenience, the blue compass needle then shows the flype direction.

Misc.

  • Show Map Overlay: You can disable the map overlay, that is compass needle and tilt indicators
  • Show Help Dialogs: When you've chosen not to show help dialogs at all (on first start), you can switch them on again here. However, any help dialog can be hidden forever when you hit "Thanks" instead of "OK", as in this help dialog:

  •
