General Remarks on Beta Program

Running a beta version means that not all features are running reliably yet. You may encounter crashes, data loss, etc. I strongly recommend to make frequent backups of iRed2's application support folder, where all actions and triggers reside. This folder is located on "Library/Application Support/iRed2" in your home directory. You may also backup your remotes (.ired2rc files), in case you have to go back to a working copy of a remote.

Be Careful!

iRed2 features support for repetitive actions. However, repeating actions may become critical, say if you transmit the Volume Up IR code too often. Under some circumstances (wrong values, application bug), the repititon may not stop! Be always prepared to shut down iRed2 immediately or shut down the target device. While I have made several efforts to prevent from this possibly desastrous behavior, ... you'll never know ...

Bug reports

If you encounter bugs, please send a bug report to ired@filewell.com. Within this bug report, include version numbers of iRed, your Mac OS X, some data of your machine, involved IRTrans devices and others on USB, and, of course, tell me what you did before the bug occured.

You may also switch on debug mode from iRed2's preferences, which will send massive output to Console.app or to separate files. These debug outputs may help me to find the problem quicker. Especially in case of a crash a debug output will help tremendously.

If the application crashes, Mac OS X writes an crash report into the directory "Library/Logs/CrashReporter/". All iRed2 crash report filenames are looking like this: "iRed2_2008-12-07-133404_yourmacsname.crash"

If a specific remote (or an imported VRC of iRed 1.x) creates problems, please send me this as well.
