2.1 Beta Release Notes

What's new?

  • Support for Global Caché GC-100 and iTach modules
  • The managment of IR modules has been completely overhauled, to allow support for Global Caché modules. The configuration of modules is no longer placed on the preferences panel, but now on the main window. See this screenshot for some new features:

 

  • Learning and transmision of codes is indepenent from the module type (LAN/USB, IRTrans or Global Caché, iTach or GC-100).
  • Each module type can transmit codes which were learned by the other, however there are limitations due to some specific capabilities of each brand
  • NOT YET: Learning of repeat codes with GC modules is under construction
  • The modules configuration file is now called "modules.xml". The old file "devices.xml" is untouched, so you can go back to iRed2.0 without problems.

Bugfixes:

  • "Browser" button now works two-ways (not in 10.4)
  • Trigger actions could'nt be set
  • Repeat modes were unreliable, sometimes hang
  • Timer triggers were not activated sometimes
  • Action quick-editor was not working at all
  • Action quick-add-editor now works in all action browsers
  • Context menu "Import to Library" works again
  • Renaming remotes is reflected everywhere
  • Triggers on reverted remote documents were not valid
  • Copy/paste button style more reliable
  • Changes to remotes did not always invalidate the document

New Features:

  • Triggers on remotes can be viewed and edited in a list
  • Double-click on IR actions respect test device setting
  • Command-double-click on actions opens quick-edit panel
  • Control-double-click on actions reveal in Actions Editor
  • Double-click on not-yet-learned IR codes starts learning instantly
  • Tuner editor creates all necessary codes as templates

New Features:

  • Action Browser has been reorganized
  • Tuner Editor has been moved into Action Browser
  • AppleScript support has been improved and slightly changed! Please see this manual page.

New features:

  • Console window for displaying of error conditions and NOT blocking the user interface
  • AppleScript calls to iRed2 will send error condition in several cases, e.g. on calling of non-active modules
  • New web access for iRedTouch (since V1.2) and others. Try "http://IP:PORT/iRedT/"
  • Export of macros (multiple actions) and tuner actions to iRedTouch
  • IRTrans module settings (handle with care!)
  • Improved IRTrans startup
  • Beta license prolongated until April 2009

Bugfixes:

  • Several crashes on ActionEditor/Browser fixed
  • Opening of iRed2 and iRed 1 documents without a minute hang? Hope so.
  • Wrong device was used, when remote-global device was set to "default"
  • Multiple action inspector more reliable, works on first drag-n-drop

  • Learning of repeat and release codes (click "?" on Actions Editor's IR code learn panel for more info)
  • CCF codes can be converted (details also on IR code help panel)
  • Recognition of IRTrans modules more reliable at startup
  • Beta license prolongated until January 2009

Bugfixes:

  • Several crashes with triggers
  • Opening of iRed2 documents work most of the time, though in some rare cases still "unrecognized format" error.
  • Online Remotes for web application or iRedTouch were not clickable sometimes

  • Special characters on iPhone'd remotes now show on iPhone correctly

    (To re-import the iRed 1.x archive, you have to remove iRed2's preference file de.tinb.iRed2.plist, though)
  • Action Editor now shows a warning, when groups are about to be deleted
  • Handling of multiple modules improved
  • Many bugfixes with document handling

New Features:

  • EyeTV integration (as before in V1.x)
  • Multiple ("sequence") actions panel functional, including drag-n-drop (not on Tiger)
  • Remote name on iPhone is displayed in the navigation bar
  • License module is functional (test license until September, 1st), though licensing has not yet begun
  • Importing of remotes now goes into selected remote group
  • Opening remotes by double-click selects remote in repository browser
  • More drag-n-drop support when moving actions around
  • Drag-n-drop actions on trigger list will create triggered action

  • Firing timer triggers no longer invalidate a remote

Bugfixes:

  • Aspect Ratio of new created Remotes was corrupted on re-opening
  • Changed HotKey-Triggers were still active
  • TimerTrigger does not allow "Weekend" + weekdays
  • TimerTrigger editing improved
  • All known devices are now listed in repository browser, even when they are not connected at the moment
  • New AppleScript actions (in Archive Browser) were not added to proper context (archive or remote)
  • Default style for buttons was a non visibible button type
  • "Add Button" (to the left or to the right) did not copy style of selected button
  • Tuners could'nt be imported into archive
  • Yellow borders on frames were rendered on iPhone, when the respective remote was in edit state
  • Repository will be saved automatically on quit (option in Preferences)
  • Keystroke "Special Key" was not editable
  • Several crashes fixed

2.0 beta 2 build 137 (May 27, 2008)

Bugfixes:

  • Tuners in main window and Action Editor were not in sync
  • Repeated Actions on hotkeys were not stopped when hotkey was released quickly
  • Crash on sorting triggers in main window
  • User Archive (archive.xml) had no unique ID
  • Flickering buttons took lots of CPU cycles
  • "Default Device" popup was always replaced by the name of the default device
  • Devices are listed, even when no device is online
  • Remotes on iPhone showed selected buttons, when in Edit mode
  • Edit button on main window now reflects state correctly
  • "Try Again" on startup of IRTrans modules is now supressed

New Features:

  • Drag&Drop of actions on remote buttons put actions title on button (if none was set before)
  • Tuners now can be created in Action Editor, too
  • Some more possibilities to rearrange groups and actions in Action Browser/Editor by Drag&Drop
  • Convenience buttons on Action Editor/Browser to create/remove/edit items

2.0 beta 1 build 136 (May 07, 2008)

  • Tuners were screwed up on import. To repair already imported tuners and tuner actions
    • Select "Tuners" in Repository Browser
    • Select a tuner in the upper table
    • Add a "Channel Name" in lower table by clicking "+", maybe set a channel name and number
    • Open Actions Editor (Command-Shift-E)
    • Switch to "Show Tuner Actions"
    • Select a Tuner
    • Double-click every "Channel Change" in right table to perform this channel change action
    • -> Every double-clicked channel change is being repaired
  • Tuner actions ("Channel Changes" could'nt be created)
  • IR codes could'nt be created
